Life as we know it

Needing to catch up my blogging and just haven't been able to find the time until today for some reason. I believe it's because my little ones are napping and I have some "Me" time right now to take advantage of. Lately, it seems like we've been on the go more and while that's good it just makes me think that maybe we should be in more now with all the inches of snow there is on the ground. Certainly hasn't stopped us from doing what we've wanted to do so far. I was thinking we'd be home more often but I guess I was wrong and with all that snow out there, the only difference is that it's a lot colder than we are use to.
While we didn't have a Merry "White" Christmas, it seems that mother nature has made up for it the whole month of January and now February. I'm watching it snow right now as I'm typing this blog and I'm sure there is more to come. I'd say that since the middle of January we've had at least 23 to 24 inches. Not much for Finland that made records back in February 1994, for having 32 inches in two days. So I believe we are blessed and it could be a lot worse. We are thankful for what we've seen so far and happy to see the beauty in it. Growing up in South Louisiana, snow is not something that I had to deal with. Although in my lifetime we had it in 1985, but nothing like this. It was more a white blanket that covered the ground and then the slop came after everything melted. That was nothing compared to this stuff. This is some serious business. Troy, the children & I have a new philosophy, if you have the proper gear on, you won't freeze. So far, so good. We have always brought extra clothing or layered them so that they can peel away when they get hot. It's all work so far & has been great. It makes you appreciate what you've had in your life and how you didn't have to deal with it the way these people have to deal with this on a daily basis during their winter months. I then make no complaints of the Louisiana or Florida winters I've endured for so long. They were great & I definitely enjoyed them. Now I can say, I'm enjoying my "new" winter months but I'm sure I'll get tired of them real fast. We have 2 more winters to go so I'm sure it will be nice to have them & we'll appreciate them when they come, the beauty of it all but yet so glad to see them go.
