It's been a couple of days since last blog and nothing much has happened since. We've just been hanging out at home, and took a walk to the park a couple of days ago. Yesterday, Thursday the 18th, the children and I went to Central Railway Station to meet some new people that just arrived at Post on Sunday, and a few other spouses that have been here about as long as we've been here. It was nice to get out of the house and be able to meet new people, especially those that speak the same language as we do. Like I mentioned before, most of the Finns do speak English but you can't really strike up a conversation with them because they aren't "southern" like we are and don't just talk to anyone. Although, they are quick to help you when need be, that's about it. A few people have asked if we have met our neighbors, well not really. A couple of weekends ago, our next door neighbor, going to her car did shout out, "Welcome to the neighborhood" and then we introduced ourselves to her as well as she did to us, but that's about it. The people in this neighborhood are in and out so much, I don't think we'll ever really get to know them. That's ok, and fine with us because we'll probably be out and about more too. The park we go to at least 3 to 4 times a week is about a 5 minute walk and that's pretty much where the kids of the area gravitate too, so Chloe gets to play with the other children that way. I just found her a Jungle Gymnastic place last night online about 20 mins away, she'll go to the "Monkey Gym" class once a week that I signed her up for. She's very excited. I'm kind of excited too. Something new for all of us. I believe that we all are going to do a trial run to get there this weekend sometime so that we aren't late for her first day on Tuesday. It's nice to do these kinds of things with your children. It makes you stay young.
Today, Friday the 19th, we are going to stay home so that "Mommy" can catch up on laundry and things around here that way I don't have to do much this weekend. We are so looking forward to the next two weeks to pass pretty quickly so that we can get our HHE (household effects) shipment. We can't wait to have all of our things back with us. More clothes for me too because I'm running out of things to wear and things that fit. Everything is becoming too big for me, but I'm not complaining. It's a good thing but I really didn't want to lose it this way. I guess it's better than not losing at all. I'm feeling good too so I guess that's OK. Other than that, that's about how things have been so far in Finland. We love it still and can't wait to venture out some more. Later!!!!!
